Doctors of AIIMS Delhi have developed a new technique that makes the diagnosis of a serious disease like cancer very easy and cheap. This method not only saves time, but everyone can use it easily. Recently, it has also been selected as the top innovation in competitions across the country. Let us know what this special technique is.

Usually it takes machines worth lakhs of rupees and several days to detect a dangerous disease like cancer. But doctors of AIIMS, Delhi have prepared a test kit that will identify cancer in just 2 hours. The most important thing is that the price of this kit has been kept less than Rs 100, due to which it will be easily available to everyone.
This kit has been developed by Dr. Subhash Chandra Yadav of the Anatomy Department of AIIMS along with his team, former HOD of the Gynecology Department, Dr. Neerja Bhatla, Jyoti Meena, Shikha Chaudhary, and Pranay Tanwar. This is a nanotech-based visual diagnostic kit, which can immediately detect cervical cancer caused by high risk HPV, especially in women. This kit has recently got the first place out of 3100 innovations from across the country in the National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) 2025. The team has also been given a prize of Rs 6 lakh and funding to take it forward as a startup.
Results in 2 hours and 100% accuracy
Dr. Subhash says that so far about 400 patients have been tested with this kit and all have got 100 percent correct results. While testing with machines takes several days, this kit gives the report in just 2 hours.
Extremely cheap and easy
This kit is so simple that people with medical training, nurses or ASHA workers can also use it. Even if women understand its process, they will be able to test themselves with its help.
Affordable alternative to expensive tests
The cost of machines used for cervical cancer testing is around Rs 30 lakh and patients have to spend around Rs 6000 for getting this test done in the private sector. At the same time, this test costs up to Rs 2000-3000 in government institutions like AIIMS. In comparison, this new kit is very cheap and in the coming time it will be able to reach rural areas as well.
Number one out of 3100
In the NBEC 2025 competition, this kit was declared the top innovation out of 3100 applications received from 34 states. If funding continues to be received on time, then this kit will be available to the people in the market in the next 4 years.
