Donald Trump said the US could soon attack Iran's nuclear facility beneath Pickaxe Mountain. The US president warned on Friday that Washington was closely monitoring all developments. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump defended the months-long US military campaign against Iran, saying its primary objective was to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

"We've been there for five months, and do you know what we've done in those five months? We've made sure they don't have nuclear weapons," Trump said, warning that the US could target Pickaxe Mountain if any activity is seen at that location.

Where is Pickaxe? 
Trump said, "We know who is coming and going in Pickaxe, and who is moving where throughout Iran. If anything goes wrong, we will attack them, and we will attack them hard." Pickaxe Mountain is near Iran's badly damaged Natanz uranium-enrichment facility, and two underground tunnels are believed to be located there.

The site's underground location is believed to protect it from airstrikes. The Wall Street Journal reports that Israeli intelligence believes Iran has moved thousands of centrifuges to this underground facility. Therefore, a US attack on this site could significantly accelerate Washington's campaign against Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

Trump said that US military intervention prevented a major regional conflict. He argued that if Washington had not acted, Iran would have become an even greater threat to Israel, Europe and the US. Trump said, "If we had not gone there, there would be no Israel today, no Middle East. They would probably have attacked European cities and our cities after this."
