World Ocean Day is celebrated every year on 8 June. The purpose of this day is to highlight the importance of oceans and raise awareness towards their conservation. The importance of the ocean in the world is very high. There are more than 70 percent oceans on the earth, which provide many essential resources. Oceans are a major source of food, medicines and an important part of the biosphere. Therefore, their conservation is very important.

For the first time, World Ocean Day was proposed on 8 June 1992 at the Global Forum in Rio de Janeiro. However, in the year 2008, the United Nations General Assembly decided that June 8 would be designated as 'World Ocean Day'. After this, World Ocean Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2009 with the theme 'Our Ocean, Our Responsibility'.

Pacific Ocean
This ocean is located between Asia, Australia, North America, and South America. The Pacific Ocean is the largest and deepest ocean in the world, spread over an area of ​​​​about 63 million square miles.

Atlantic Ocean
The Atlantic Ocean is located between North America, South America, Europe and Africa. It is the second-largest ocean in the world, with an area of ​​​​about 106 square kilometers.

Indian Ocean
This ocean is the third largest ocean in the world, located between Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Indian Ocean islands. Its area is about 70 million square kilometers.

South Ocean
The South Ocean was officially recognized by the International Hydrographic Organization in the year 2000. This ocean is located around Antarctica, with an area of ​​​​about 20.8 million square kilometers.

Arctic Ocean
The smallest of the five oceans of the world is the Arctic Ocean, which is located around the North Pole in the Arctic region and is surrounded by North America, Europe, and Asia. The area of ​​​​this ocean is about 14 million square kilometers.
