Lord Shiva is always absorbed in someone's meditation. But have you ever wondered in whose meditation he remains absorbed? We are going to tell you about this.
Story of Padmapuran
According to Padmapuran, one day Mother Parvati asked Mahadev, "Swami! When you remain in meditation, whom do you meditate on?" Mahadev took some time to answer this question and then answered. He said- "Dear, when I am in meditation, I chant the name of Ram."
Mata Parvati said to Shiva Ji, "Swami! Ram Ji is the incarnation of Vishnu Ji, then why do you chant his incarnation Ram instead of remembering Vishnu?" To this Lord Shiva replied, "Just as a thirsty person knows the value of water, similarly I remain restless for the name of Ram. Ram name is equal to Sahastra Naam, for me it is the most sacred and powerful. Chanting the name of Shri Ram destroys all sins, that is why I always chant the name of Ram.”
According to Ramayana, when Lord Ram attacked Lanka, he worshipped the linga form of Mahadev in Rameswaram, then he took the blessings of Lord Shiva. Today it is famous as Rameshwar Jyotirlinga. This shows that Lord Ram was also an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.
