Among those killed in the plane crash in Ahmedabad is 23-year-old Dirdh Patel, who played for Leeds Modernians Cricket Club in England. He studied at Huddersfield University. This Leeds club mourned the death of Dirdh Patel and paid tribute to him.

The club said that they are very saddened by the news of his death. "The condolences of everyone at the club are with Dirdh's family and everyone who knew him."

In its report, BBC quoted a spokesperson of the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior Cricket League as saying, "Dirdh wanted to continue playing cricket after settling in his new job."

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also aboard this plane, who was going to England to meet his family. He also died. His funeral was held on Monday 16 June.
