The industry treats pregnant actresses with disdain. I was forced to wear tight clothes: Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte, who has worked in many Indian and international films, recently revealed on Neha Dhupia's show that an Indian filmmaker behaved rudely with her during her pregnancy. She was forced to wear tight clothes and was prevented from taking the services of a doctor on the set.

Extremely talented actress Radhika Apte is a well-known name in the film industry. Radhika, who has worked on many domestic and international film projects, recently made a big revelation about the attitude towards pregnant actresses, away from the glamour of the film industry. On Neha Dhupia's show Freedom to Feed Live Session, Radhika told that after hearing the news of her pregnancy, an Indian film maker's attitude was very rude. She spoke openly about the film industry's conservative thinking towards actresses working during pregnancy. She also said that there is a huge difference in the thinking of Hollywood and Bollywood towards actresses going through this phase.

In the Indian film industry, a filmmaker was rude to her after hearing this news. She was forced to wear tight clothes during the film even in such a condition. She was not even allowed to call a doctor if she felt any pain or discomfort during the shooting. On the contrary, while working on a Hollywood project, when Radhika informed about her pregnancy, the filmmaker sympathized with her and said that it does not matter how much she is eating, or how she will look by the time the shooting is over, because she is pregnant. Radhika said that this kind of support from that filmmaker has a different meaning for me.

On Neha's show, Radhika said that I understand professional requirements and I have always respected them, but a little sympathy has a very deep impact. I was not asking for any special treatment from them; just a little humanity and sympathy would have been enough. Radhika's outspoken statement on Neha's show has exposed the treatment meted out to actresses working during pregnancy in the film industry.

Radhika's statement has come at a time when there is already a debate going on about fixing working hours or shifts for actresses who have become mothers. Earlier, Deepika Padukone had demanded 8-hour shifts from Sandeep Reddy Vanga while working in the film 'Spirit', after which she left the film after a dispute. Now Radhika has accused an Indian film maker of behaving rudely with her after hearing the news of her pregnancy.
