The petitioner husband says that his wife brought stray dogs into the house and then made him cook their food, clean them, and take care of them, whereas keeping dogs is prohibited in their society.

Husband alleges wife's actions caused him mental trauma.
A man has filed a divorce petition in the Gujarat High Court on the grounds of cruelty by his wife. He claims that his wife's love for dogs has worsened the situation. He alleges that she brought stray dogs home, forcing the petitioner to cook and care for them. He alleges that he has been repeatedly humiliated and sexually abused in their marriage.
The husband stated that their marriage had irretrievably broken down and offered to pay his wife ₹1.5 million as alimony. However, the wife demanded ₹2 crore. The court will hear the case on December 1st.
According to the petition, the man married in 2006, but problems began when his wife brought home a stray dog, even though dog ownership is prohibited in their society. Subsequently, the wife brought home more stray dogs, for which the petitioner cooked and cared. The petitioner states that one of the dogs even bit him while he was trying to put the dogs back to their beds.
The petitioner stated that his neighbors objected to his dog ownership, and a police complaint was filed against him in 2008. The petitioner explained that his wife joined an animal rights group and began filing complaints against people. The husband alleged that his wife repeatedly called him to the police station for help, and when he refused, he was verbally abused and humiliated.
The husband also alleged that on April 1, 2007, his wife arranged a prank call and falsely claimed an affair with a radio jockey. He stated that this incident caused him embarrassment in his office and society. He stated that his wife's love for dogs caused him serious harm. He alleged that this not only caused him stress but also affected his health. He claims that this caused him mental trauma, which adversely affected his health, and he also suffered from erectile dysfunction.
The husband claims he moved to Bengaluru due to this stress, but his wife continued to harass him there via phone and social media. In 2017, the husband filed a divorce petition in the Ahmedabad Family Court, to which the wife defended herself, arguing that the petitioner had introduced her to animal love and then abandoned her. The wife also presented photographs to the court showing her husband loving dogs.
In February 2024, the family court dismissed his petition, stating, “The petitioner failed to prove that his wife had subjected him to cruelty or deserted him.” Regarding the prank call, the court ruled that it could not be considered grounds for divorce.
