Tarique Rahman: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Executive Chairman Tarique Rahman has returned to Dhaka from London after 17 years. The son of ailing former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, will be actively campaigning for the upcoming general elections in Bangladesh on February 12th. He has come to Bangladesh with his wife and cat.
Tariq Rahman had been living in London with his family since September 11, 2008. His visit after 17 years is being seen as a direct return to politics.
A warm welcome from supporters
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Executive President Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka after 17 years, where a large crowd gathered to welcome him. BNP supporters gave him a rousing welcome, and the streets were filled with excitement. Tarique Rahman will soon address a public rally. Many countries, including India, are closely watching his rally. Tensions are high in Bangladesh following the recent murder of student leader Hadi, and it is believed that Tarique Rahman may express his views on this issue as well.
Stand barefoot for a while
Tariq Rahman stood barefoot on the ground for a while before entering his reception. He then departed for the venue in a bulletproof bus. From the airport to the rally site, he was provided with security equivalent to that of a Prime Minister. At 3 p.m. local time, Tariq Rahman will address the nation and outline his future plans.

Upon his arrival, Tarique Rahman visited his ailing mother, Khaleda Jita, at EverCare Hospital. He will also receive his National ID card on December 27th, allowing him to become a Bangladeshi voter. Tarique Rahman is the acting president of the BNP and a prominent face of the party, playing a key role in the party's strategy and campaign for the upcoming elections.
