Stock Market Today: The Indian stock market started the third trading day of the week on Wednesday, April 22, with negative trading. Major benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50, opened in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened with a decline of 253.99 points, or 0.32 percent. The Sensex began the day at 79,019.34. The NSE Nifty 50 also had a negative start. The Nifty 50 slipped 105.75 points, or 0.43 percent, to open at 24,470.85.
At around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading 365 points lower at 78,907. The Nifty 50 had slipped 90 points and was trading at 24,485.

From the BSE basket, Trent, Bajaj Finance, Maruti, Eternal, and ITC were the top gainers. HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, INFY, TCS, and ICICI Bank were the top losers.

The Indian stock market saw a surge on Tuesday, April 21st. The major benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50, ended the day trading in the green. The Sensex gained 753.03 points, or 0.96 percent, to close at 79,273.33, while the NSE Nifty 50 jumped 211.75 points, or 0.87 percent, to close at 24,576.60.

Nifty 100, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty IT, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty Midcap 100, and Nifty Bank stocks saw gains. On Tuesday's trading day, 23 stocks from the BSE basket closed in the green, while 7 declined.
