Sonam-Raja Murder Case: In the Sonam-Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, the police has taken further action and arrested the main accused Raj Kushwaha and his other accomplices. Earlier, the police found in the investigation that after killing her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, Sonam went to Indore for 2 days and met her lover Raj Kushwaha in a rented house there. This was Sonam's first and last meeting with Raj after the murder. After this, she was in contact with Raj only through phone. Both were arrested separately. Sonam was arrested from Ghazipur, while Raj was arrested from Indore.
The police brought Raja and Sonam to Shillong on different days for interrogation. Before presenting them in the court, both were kept in the Sadar police station of Shillong but they did not come face to face. Sources told that when all the accused were presented together in the court at 5 pm on Wednesday (11 June), even then Sonam and Raj reached the court in different vehicles, but Sonam and her lover Raj came face to face inside the court room after 15 days. Sources told that when both of them saw each other in the court, Sonam's eyes filled up on seeing her lover Raj. Sonam started crying in the court room. Along with the police, many lawyers were also present in the court room.
Sonam Raghuvanshi and 4 others arrested
Sonam Raghuvanshi and her four other accomplices, arrested for allegedly murdering her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, were sent to eight-day police custody by a Shillong court on Wednesday, an official said. A senior official said Sonam was brought to the northeastern state late Tuesday (June 10) night, while the four others were brought here on Wednesday on transit remand. Vivek Sayam, Superintendent of Police of the state's East Khasi Hills district, told PTI, "The police had requested 10-day remand of all the accused. The court approved eight-day police custody.
Murder of transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi
Indore resident transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi had come to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam (24) for honeymoon and during this time the crime was committed. Sonam was arrested from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, while her accomplices were arrested from Indore in Madhya Pradesh for their alleged role in hatching the conspiracy to murder Raja Raghuvanshi. The official said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had requested police custody of the accused to connect the dots of the incident and recreate the crime scene at the crime scene in Sohra.
