Many smartphones launching next year are expected to feature more powerful batteries. According to a recent report, Vivo is testing phones with 8,000mAh and 9,000mAh batteries, and these could be launched next year. Smartphone companies are gradually increasing battery capacity. The recently launched OnePlus 15 features a 7,300mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max features an even larger 7,500mAh battery pack. This trend is expected to continue next year.

Vivo's strong preparations

Vivo's flagship Vivo X300 Pro model will feature a larger 6,510mAh battery in many markets. Vivo plans to expand this capacity even further. After launching the Vivo X300 series, the company will directly launch the X500 series next year. This series is expected to feature batteries larger than 7,000mAh. Furthermore, the company is also testing 8,000mAh and 9,000mAh batteries for mid-range smartphones expected next year.

Other companies are also in the race.

Vivo isn't the only company preparing to pack larger batteries in its smartphones. Other companies are also looking to join the race. Apple, which hasn't talked much about battery capacity, may also offer the largest battery ever in its upcoming Pro model. Recently, reports suggested that the iPhone 18 Pro Max, launching in September next year, will be slightly thicker. This increased space will be used to house a larger battery. It's worth noting that smartphone companies are constantly introducing better display technology, which increases battery consumption. To meet this demand, the need for larger batteries in phones has increased.
