Shubman Gill Century: Indian captain Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the second ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow. He reached his century with a four off the first ball of the 33rd over.

Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the second ODI between India and Afghanistan in Lucknow . He reached his century in 77 balls, his ninth in ODI career and his first as an ODI captain. Ishan Kishan followed suit in the very next over.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. India suffered their first blow in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over. Jaiswal scored 4 runs off 9 balls. Coming in at number three, captain Shubman Gill, along with Rohit Sharma, put on an 87-run partnership for the second wicket. Rohit fell just short of his half-century, bowled by Rashid Khan for 48. In this 39-ball innings, Rohit hit 2 sixes and 6 fours.
Shubman Gill was appointed India's full-time ODI captain in October 2025 after Rohit Sharma stepped down from captaincy. He is also the Test captain. Team India is preparing for next year's ODI World Cup, and therefore, Gill is out of the T20 squad.
