The Indian team defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in the first T20 match. This is the team's first T20 victory under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. What's even more noteworthy is that Gautam Gambhir was not the head coach of Team India in this match. Following Gambhir's resignation as coach, the T20 team, captained by Shreyas Iyer, has registered its first victory.

In the first T20 match played in Harare, Zimbabwe managed just 125 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, and debutant Ashok Sharma also bowled well. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a sensational impact with a fifty off 18 balls. India secured a 7-wicket victory in the 14th over.

India won as soon as Gautam Gambhir was removed.

Gautam Gambhir is not the head coach of Team India for the T20 series against Zimbabwe. In his place, VVS Laxman, who also heads the BCCI's Center of Excellence, has accompanied the Indian team on the Zimbabwe tour. Gambhir has been rested for this series and will continue as head coach for the Asian Games. Gambhir will return for the series against the West Indies.

First win came in the eighth match

Shreyas Iyer finally got his first win as captain. Previously, under his captaincy, the Indian team lost both T20Is against Ireland. After that, the first T20I against England was washed out due to rain, but Team India lost the next four matches. Thus, England won the series 4-0. India had been without a victory for seven matches.
