The 13th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League was scheduled to take place this year, but it will now be held next year, in 2027. A Khel Now report quoted sources as saying that the new deal offered by the current broadcaster is half the amount of the previous deal. Consequently, all parties have decided that more time will be needed.

The report stated that the league's five-year media rights contract with JioStar expired last October at the end of the 12th edition. Since then, the league has been without a broadcast partner. Negotiations for a new contract have not reached any conclusions, delaying the start of the 13th edition.

The report quoted a source familiar with the matter as saying that there hasn't been much interest in the open market for the broadcast rights. The source added, "The new deal offered by the current broadcaster is half the amount of the previous deal. This is why all parties have requested more time. Now, the Pro Kabaddi League season will not take place before June 13, 2027."

The previous contract was for five years, from seasons 8 to 12. The deal for this contract was worth approximately ₹905 crore (approximately ₹905 crore). In the new deal, the broadcasters have offered approximately half that amount.

The report stated that Pro Kabaddi League team owners have also approached the Sports Ministry for guidance. In 2021, Mashal Sports, which operates the league, held an open auction for media rights for the fifth edition with a base price of ₹900 crore (approximately ₹905 crore). Star India (now JioStar) acquired the rights for approximately ₹905 crore (approximately ₹905 crore), slightly above the base price.
