EatClub's food license suspended in Mumbai; find out which brands are affected
If you also order food online and order from various EatClub brands, then this news is very important for you. Recently, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the food license of EatClub Brands Private Limited, located in Goregaon East, Mumbai, with immediate effect. This action was implemented as of September 2nd. Learn why the FDA took this action and which brands are affected.
Why did the FDA suspend EatClub's license?
A Maharashtra FDA inspection revealed several serious deficiencies in the kitchen and food storage at the Royal Palms facility. Officials found non-compliance with several regulations regarding cleanliness, food handling, pest control, and employee safety.
- There were no adequate and proper storage facilities for food items, packaging, and chemicals.
- Hand washing facilities and general sanitation arrangements were not found.
- There was no provision for lighting and ventilation in the kitchen area.
- There was no proper system to handle customer complaints.
- Even the necessary technical staff was not present during the inspection.
- Necessary arrangements were not made to prevent insects from entering the premises.
- Some raw materials were also not adequately tested and cleaned for food safety reasons.
- Some deficiencies were also found in the records related to training and medical examination of employees.
- The food preparation staff did not have the necessary safety equipment like aprons, gloves, caps and shoe covers.
According to the FDA, the investigation also revealed that ice cream and carbonated drinks were being sold there, even though these products were not covered by the relevant food license. Given these deficiencies, the FDA suspended the license for EatClub's premises.
Are all EatClub brands banned?
It's important to understand that this action is specifically related to the Royal Palms facility in Aarey Milk Colony, Goregaon East. This does not mean that the licenses of all EatClub-affiliated outlets or brands have been suspended.
EatClub's portfolio includes several food brands, including Box8, Mojo Pizza, ZAZA Mughal Biryani, Itminaan Matka Biryani, LeanCrust, NH1 Bowls, and WeFit, among others. Therefore, please check the status and current information of any specific outlet before ordering from them.
