A resident of the Shivala area, who was present at the scene, said, "Dirty water has been flowing into our area for the past 15 days, even though we have installed a submersible." A poet present at the scene also took a jab at the ruling party, criticizing the accusation of deliberately causing the sewer pipeline to overflow.
BJP and SP Congress face to face
Varanasi Mayor Ashok Tiwari initially targeted political parties regarding this matter, saying that this is a conspiracy to defame Kashi, and that is why a video of a single location has been made viral. A sack has been deliberately placed in the sewer pipeline.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party and Congress retorted, saying that such statements are being made to shirk responsibility. No mayor in history has ever made such a statement, and that the rainy season saw waterlogging, waterlogging, and sewerage problems in most areas of Varanasi, not just one area.
