Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said, "Major countries are grappling with fuel shortages today. But India's efforts have overcome this crisis. India made the right decisions at every level. It was only through a timely and accurate assessment of the crisis, an effective strategy, and a balanced use of India's resources that India was able to overcome the crisis."

There was going to be an uproar in the country – PM Modi

PM Modi said, "About 60 percent of our LPG needs were imported from other countries, and 90 percent of that was coming from Gulf countries and passing through me. Suddenly, the war situation virtually stopped that supply. You can imagine the devastation that was going to cause in our country. But as soon as the crisis began, the government focused on the capacity of refineries. Refineries were asked to convert the gas they used for industrial purposes into cooking gas (LPG). Within seven days, LPG production increased."

PM Modi said that the country's production of LPG, which was previously 35,000 metric tons, increased to 54,000 metric tons during the crisis. Refineries that had never produced LPG before have also been configured to do so. He further said, "A campaign was launched to increase the number of PNG connections, i.e., piped cooking gas connections. In a very short time, India connected more than 1.1 million households with PNG gas connections."

The price of the cylinder would have gone up to Rs 2000 - PM Modi.

The PM said, "On the other hand, domestic consumers were not burdened too much. Under the current circumstances, the price of a domestic gas cylinder could have gone up to 2,000 rupees. Major market experts were predicting this, but domestic LPG cylinders are still being sold at a lower price. Two days ago, the government also significantly reduced commercial gas prices. This shows how sensitively our government is working."

Regarding petrol and diesel prices, PM Modi said, "The crisis in diesel and petrol due to the war was also huge. Our country does not have large oil wells. As this crisis escalated, crude oil prices rose from $70 per barrel to $120 per barrel. Import routes were also closed. Diesel and petrol prices increased by 40 to 50% in many countries. In many countries, diesel and petrol became available on a quota basis. Between April and June alone, diesel and petrol companies suffered losses of over Rs 75,000 crore."
