Pav Bhaji Recipe: Make Pav Bhaji at home and enjoy the street food of Mumbai

Ingredients

4-5 potatoes (boiled and mashed)

1 cup peas (boiled)

1 capsicum (finely chopped)

2-3 tomatoes (in puree)

1 onion (finely chopped)

2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp pav bhaji masala

2 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

2 tbsp oil or butter

1/2 cup water (to make a smooth paste)

For pav

8 pavs (bread rolls)

Butter (for frying)

Method of preparation

Heat oil or butter in a pan and add finely chopped onion and fry till golden brown.

Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry well. Then add tomato puree and let it cook well.

When the tomato oil separates, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, pav bhaji masala and coriander powder and mix well.

Now add boiled potatoes, peas, and capsicum to it. Mix well and add water and let it cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Then mash it to make it spicy and smooth. Finally add garam masala and salt and mix well.

Cut the pav into two parts and put butter on a pan and fry both the parts of the pav till it becomes light brown.

Now serve the prepared pav bhaji with the chopped pav. Serve it with finely chopped onions, green chilies and lemon slices.

Serve the pav bhaji hot and serve with raita or salad.
