Meta has introduced new parental controls on Threads, allowing parents to better monitor their children's screen time, privacy, and app activity.

Meta has made a major update regarding youth online activity on its social media platform, Threads. The company has begun rolling out parental supervision features in the Asia-Pacific region, including India. This feature will allow parents to monitor their children's Threads usage time and manage several important settings. This feature will be available through Meta's Family Center.

Parents will be able to see the screen time of the last 7 days.

According to media reports, the new parental controls will allow parents to see how much time their children have spent on Threads each day over the past seven days, as well as their average daily screen time for the entire week. This will help parents understand how much time their children are spending on social media platforms. According to Meta, this monitoring will be available once supervision is set up on Threads.

Threads can be blocked at night.

New features also include Sleep Mode controls. Parents can limit or completely block access to Threads at night. Meta's default Sleep Mode mutes notifications from 10 PM to 7 AM, and auto-replies are turned on. Parents can adjust these settings to suit their needs.

You can also set a daily time limit.

Meta also gives parents the option to set a daily time limit for Threads. This means parents can decide how long their child can use Threads per day.

Additionally, access to Threads can be completely blocked on certain days or hours. Importantly, if a teen uses Threads on multiple devices, the time limit will apply to the total usage time across all devices.

Control over tagging and privacy

Not only screen time, parents will now be able to manage certain privacy and content settings. They'll be able to control who can tag their child in Threads posts. They'll also have the option to manage or approve certain privacy settings and preferences related to sensitive content.

All of these features can be managed through Meta's Family Center. The company says it will further expand parental supervision tools so parents can access essential information and control over their children's online activity across Meta's various platforms in one place.
