After its failed attempt to attack India on Thursday, Pakistan is reportedly turning to its international partners for more loans following a heavy loss. On the night of May 8, Pakistan launched an attack on India, targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur with drones and missiles. However, India swiftly retaliated, neutralizing the threat, which led to significant losses for Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Appeal for Financial Help
A post surfaced from the Pakistani government, appealing to its international partners for more loans after the "heavy losses" inflicted by India. The post, made on Friday, read:
“Govt of Pakistan appeals to International Partners for more loans after heavy losses inflicted by enemy. Amid escalating war and stock crashes, we urge international partners to help de-escalate. Nation urged to remain steadfast.”
This post was made by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Economic Affairs Division – Government of Pakistan on its official social media account.
Social Media Reactions
The appeal did not go unnoticed, and Indian netizens quickly took to social media to troll Pakistan. Comments flooded in from all directions, poking fun at Pakistan’s public request for financial assistance, including:
- “The way to beg for bread is a little casual.”
- “And stop this now, he has started begging, India has not done anything yet.”
- “The beggar also needs a loan to fight….”
- “The bowl will be finished so quickly.”
- “Get loans from Chinese apps. Better apps only for you in this situation.”
- “No money, thousands of rupees are spent, my Pakistani laal.”
- “Who is begging for bread like this openly, brother? Create a Ketto/Milap account and tweet the link. We will put in a little bit too.”
Pakistani Ministry Denies the Post
However, as the post gained traction, Reuters later reported that the Pakistan Ministry of Economic Affairs denied making the appeal. They claimed that their social media account had been hacked, and that the post was not official. Despite the denial, the incident has sparked a wave of memes and jokes on social media, further fueling the online discourse surrounding Pakistan's situation.
