Jaiprakash Ranjan, New Delhi. Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Monday was a day of high activity in New Delhi and Islamabad. Several high-level meetings were held in the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has already announced to punish the attackers and those who sheltered them.

First he held consultations with NSA Ajit Doval, then a team led by the Home Secretary met PM Modi specially. After this, the Home Ministry instructed the states to conduct mock drills in view of civil security in emergency situations. Instructions have been given to specially train citizens and students so that they can protect themselves in case of a war.

Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh also reached the PMO. Earlier, PM Modi had a telephonic conversation with Russian President Putin. President Putin has assured full support to India against terrorism. After the Pahalgam attack (22 April), PM Modi has spoken with the heads of 16 countries so far.

Pakistan is in panic after seeing India's attitude

On the other hand, Islamabad's activities clearly show how much panic has grown in Pakistan due to India's attitude. The ambassador of China, a close friend of Pakistan, met President Asif Ali Zardari.

China did not say anything about the meeting, but it was reported in the Pakistani media that the Chinese ambassador assured that China will continue to help Pakistan in establishing peace in South Asia.

A special meeting of the Pakistani Parliament was called

The Pakistan government has decided to send ambassadors all over the world to present its side on the Pahalgam issue. A special meeting of the Pakistani Parliament has been called once again on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Agharchi reached Islamabad on Monday afternoon where he met Pakistan's Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. Agharchi is going to visit India on Thursday this week. Iran has good relations with India and Pakistan. In such a situation, Iran is trying to resolve the current tension between India and Pakistan.

It is also noteworthy that after the Pahalgam attack, India's top leadership has not yet made any contact with China. PM Modi has already spoken to the heads of four of the five permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), except China (USA, UK, France and Russia).

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has spoken to the foreign ministers of nine of the 10 temporary member countries of the UNSC. The tenth temporary member is Pakistan, with which India has not had any contact.

UNSC meeting called

It is also a noteworthy fact that a closed-door meeting of the UNSC has been called on Pakistan's request late on Monday night or early on Tuesday. However, such meetings do not have much diplomatic importance for India. There is a lot of concern in the international community as well over the growing tension between India and Pakistan.

Meeting between Rajnath Singh and Japan's Defense Minister Nakatani San

In a meeting between Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Japanese Defence Minister Nakatani San in New Delhi, India said that promoting cross-border terrorism is the policy of the Pakistani government and incidents like Pahalgam pose a threat to peace in the entire region. On this, the Japanese Defence Minister said that terrorism cannot be justified in any way, Japan is with the international community including India in this regard. I hope that both the concerned parties will work responsibly for peace and stability in South Asia.

Regarding the talks between Putin and Modi, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that President Putin expressed deep condolences to the people killed in the Pahalgam attack and assured full support to India against terrorism. He emphasized that just action must be taken against the culprits of this heinous crime and their supporters.
