The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has developed a new AI-based system that detects such situations in a very short time and sends an immediate alert. This technology is being implemented at stations like Ghaziabad to improve passenger safety and rescue speed.

How does this AI system work?

This smart system monitors every activity in the elevator area through cameras installed there. If a person becomes trapped in an elevator, the technology detects the situation within approximately 60 seconds and immediately sends a notification to the Operations Control Center (OCC) . An alarm also sounds near the elevator, prompting staff to immediately respond. If timely action is still not taken, the system escalates the alert to a more critical level, ensuring immediate response.

How different is this system from before?

Previously, if someone was stuck in an elevator, they had to manually press the alarm button or call for help via the intercom. This entire process depended on the individual's actions. However, now, with the help of AI, the system automatically recognizes the situation and issues an alert, making the rescue process faster and more automated than ever before.

It will work even without the internet.

The unique feature of this system is that it is based on existing CCTV networks and does not rely on the internet or cloud services to function. All information is processed in a secure local system, which maintains passenger privacy and ensures seamless operation even during network outages.

It will be used in other places in the future.

NCRTC believes this technology won't be limited to metro stations. In the future, it could be used in railway stations, hospitals, airports, and large commercial buildings.
