NIA court convicted two accused of conspiracy to carry out a terror attack, and it is not known when the sentence will be pronounced

NIA convicts terror attack accused

 

The NIA court at Patiala House Court in Delhi on Thursday (December 18, 2025) convicted two accused of conspiring to carry out a terrorist attack in the country. The two accused are Zahoor Ahmed Peer and Nazir Ahmed Peer. The NIA court convicted both accused under sections 18, 19, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

What were the charges against the accused?

 

 

 

The two convicts, Zahoor Ahmed Peer and Nazir Ahmed Peer, were accused of conspiring, harboring, and assisting terrorist Bahadur Ali, who had infiltrated into India from Pakistan to incite tensions in Kashmir following the killing of Burhan Wani, a commander of the Pakistani terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen.

The court will deliver its verdict next year.

In September 2017, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Nazir Ahmed Peer and Zahoor Ahmed Peer, residents of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA subsequently presented both accused before the court. Following a lengthy legal process, the special NIA court at Delhi's Patiala House Court found both accused guilty of all charges. The court will now pronounce its verdict on the sentencing of these two convicts on January 8, 2026.

NIA is investigating the Delhi terror attack

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also actively investigating a car bomb blast outside the Red Fort in the national capital, Delhi. The agency has arrested several people in connection with the Delhi terror attack. A white-collar terror module has also been uncovered in this terrorist attack. The investigation into this terror module also links to Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. Following the confirmation of involvement of several doctors working at Al Falah University in terrorist activities, the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Association of Indian Universities are also investigating, and the university's accreditation is also under threat.
