According to an Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report released last month, about 186 (81%) of the sitting MLAs in Madhya Pradesh are crorepatis, which is less than the per capita income of a common man in MP at Rs 1,40,583 or Rs 11,000 per month. This is in contrast to the rough figures.

The report also revealed that 230 sitting MLAs owned assets worth Rs 10 crore, which was 105% more than the valuation of Rs 5 crore of each MLA elected in the 2013 Madhya Pradesh elections.

The report further states that 107 (83%) of the 129 BJP MLAs are crorepatis, while 76 (78%) of the 97 Congress MLAs are crorepatis. 3 out of 4 independent MLAs are also crorepatis.

The total number of crorepati MLAs elected in MP was just 84 in the 2008 elections, which increased by 92% to 161 crorepati MLAs in the 2013 elections and increased by 15.5% to 186 MLAs in the 2018 elections.

Sanjay Satyendra Pathak - BJP

Former minister and BJP MLA from Vijayaraghavgarh constituency, Sanjay Satyendra Pathak is the richest sitting MLA with a net worth of ₹226 crore, up 60% from ₹141 crore in 2013.

Chetanya Kashyap - BJP

The second richest MLA from Madhya Pradesh is Chetanya Kashyap whose net worth is Rs 204 crore. Kashyap, a two-time BJP MLA from Ratlam city, is hopeful of a hat-trick victory for the BJP in the upcoming elections.

Sanjay Shukla- Congress

The richest Congress candidate is Indore-1 MLA Sanjay Shukla, whose net worth is Rs 139 crore.

Kamal Nath- Congress

MP Congress chief Kamal Nath is ranked sixth on the list of richest MLAs, with his net worth being Rs 124 crore.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan- BJP

According to the affidavit filed in the 2018 elections, current CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assets worth more than Rs 7 crore.

Poorest MLA/Candidate

Whereas in MP, six BJP MLAs and four Congress MLAs have the least declared assets.

The value of the property of Ram Dangore, who became BJP's first tribal MLA from Pandhana, is Rs 50,000. Whereas third-time BJP MLA and minister Usha Thakur is the owner of property worth Rs 7 lakh. Apart from this, BJP's tribal MLA Sharad Kol is also on this list, whose total assets are equal to Rs 8.4 lakh.
