There were special discussions about the BJP in the result of the recent municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party fielded around 400 Muslim candidates, many of whom were successful in Muslim-majority areas.
Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party for the first time gave tickets to around 400 Muslim candidates in the municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh. Till now the opposition parties have been calling the BJP a party of majority Hindus, but under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the party fielded a large number of Muslim candidates, proving this notion wrong. Many of these candidates won their respective seats and at the same time the Muslim vote bank of the party also increased. Now BJP is preparing to use this 'Muslim card model' in Mumbai's BMC elections.
'Muslims are largely associated with BJP'
In order to implement the strategies of the party, the Mumbai BJP Minority Cell has also started it. Minority cell president Waseem Khan said that during the 9 years of Modi government's rule, we have been working among the Muslims, as a result of which a large number of Muslims are associated with the party. Wasim Khan told that now even Muslims have started trusting PM Modi's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', which will see its impact in the BMC elections this time.
'Muslims now like Modi and BJP'
Wasim Khan told that Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar had given him the responsibility to go to the Muslim-dominated areas of the city and tell the Muslims the benefits of the central government's schemes. He said, 'Now the Muslim has become aware, he can differentiate between right and wrong, that's why Muslims now like BJP and Modi. This is the reason why Muslims voted for BJP in a big way in UP and will now vote in Mumbai's BMC elections as well.' Wasim Khan said that for the last one and a half year he has been working in total 224 seats and wards of Mumbai, Out of which 40-45 wards are in Muslim dominated areas.
'BJP will give ticket to Muslim candidates also'
Wasim Khan said that after discussion with city president Ashish Shelar, about 40-45 tickets would be given to Muslim candidates from the party in Muslim dominated areas of the city. Common Muslims of Mumbai were also seen appreciating this step of BJP. He said that the opposition parties only showed us the fear of BJP, but now when we are getting the benefits of the Modi government's schemes, then why will we not support BJP. It is believed that this time BJP will give tickets to many Muslim candidates in BMC elections to make deep inroads among Muslims.
