For many public and private authorities, an Aadhaar card is also required to avail of the benefits of KYC service. Everything from a PAN card to a bank account should be linked with an Aadhaar card. An Aadhaar card is required to take advantage of the schemes run by the government. This is one reason why the Aadhaar card is also an important document for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Today we will tell you how you can apply for an Aadhaar card for NRI.

NRI applicants must have an Indian mobile number.
Updated Indian passport without aadhaar card

For Aadhaar Card NRI applicants without an updated Indian passport, a valid Indian passport is required as proof of identity. But if the address in your passport is not updated and you want to update your current address for your Aadhaar application, you can also provide any related document to UIDAI in the address proof.

Aadhaar Enrollment Process for NRI
First of all, go to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra in your area.
Carry your valid Indian passport with you.
Fill out the enrollment form with all the necessary details.
After this, check that all the details entered in the enrollment form are matching with the details of your passport.
Enter your email address to the applicant in the form.
After that request the operator to enrol you as NRI. While applying for an Aadhaar card, the NRI applicant will also have to sign a declaration. The declaration is slightly different for NRIs, so read it carefully and fill it out.
Complete the biometric capture process.
Review the application form whether all the details are filled in correctly or not.
After this, you will get an acknowledgement slip with 14 digit Enrollment ID of the applicant as well as a date and time stamp.

Aadhaar enrollment for children of NRIs
For children below 5 years of age, one of the parents/guardians has to give consent on behalf of the child for the enrollment form
If the child does not have a valid Indian passport, then the passport of one of the parents/guardians can be affixed.
For children 5 to 18 years old
A valid Indian passport of any one of the parents/guardians can be given as ID proof for the enrollment form.
If you are not an NRI and there is no document in the name of the minor, then a valid relationship document such as a birth certificate can be used.
If the minor has these documents, then for enrolment, use the child's school ID like valid ID proof (Pol) and address proof (PoA) documents.
