A case of online leak of personal data of more than 1.38 lakh candidates who appeared for the NEET PG exam has come to light, which is being sold for just Rs 3,599.

A shocking incident involving medical students across the country has surfaced. It is reported that the personal data of approximately 1.38 lakh candidates who took the NEET PG exam has been leaked. It is being reported that this data is being sold online at a very low price, for just ₹3,599. This revelation has caused an uproar on social media, and anger is growing among students.

The entire matter came to light when a candidate posted on Reddit claiming that data of NEET PG candidates was being sold on a Telegram channel. According to the user, an advertisement for the sale of data for 15,000 rupees was posted on the channel.

The candidate shared his rank and other details to verify his information. He explained that the person who sold the data provided accurate information—his name, father's name, email address, mobile number, and even his state were correct. This confirmed the authenticity of the data leak.

Students' anger also surfaced on Twitter (X).

This is shocking! NEET PG students' personal information, including application IDs, email addresses, contact numbers, and roll numbers, is being sold online. This is a serious breach of trust. The user further wrote that this incident betrays both the students' privacy and hard work. They demanded answers from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the IT company involved in the process, saying that both should be ashamed of this negligence.

Evidence of data sale also surfaced

Many users on social media have shared screenshots of the website where this data was put up for sale. The website stated that the data of 138,456 NEET PG candidates was available for just ₹3,599. It is reported that the website also publicly displayed some of the data to gain the trust of buyers.

This revelation has angered NEET PG aspirants and the doctor community across the country. Many were already demanding transparency in the examination process, and this leak has further increased their concerns.

Increased pressure on NBEMS

According to reports, questions are now being raised about the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Candidates have already filed a petition in the Supreme Court, demanding transparency in the examination process and the public disclosure of answer keys and question papers.

The Supreme Court sought an answer.

The Supreme Court is already actively involved in this matter. On September 26th, the Supreme Court ordered NBEMS to respond within two weeks. As scheduled, the case will be heard again on October 28th.
