NCB destroys 1835 kg of dangerous drug mephedrone
The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has safely disposed of 1,835 kg of mephedrone and 341 kg of other banned chemicals seized from various locations in Maharashtra and Delhi. A total of 16 accused were arrested in this major drug case. A detailed investigation uncovered several interstate and international drug networks, including the arrest of a foreign national. This action dismantled a large and interconnected international drug syndicate.
High-Level Drug Disposal Committee Formed
As per the Supreme Court guidelines, a High-Level Drug Disposal Committee was constituted, consisting of the Deputy Director General (SWR) of the NCB, the Additional Director of the NCB Mumbai Zone, and the Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune. The case was reviewed and selected for pre-trial disposal. After following all legal procedures, the seized drugs and other chemicals were destroyed through incineration on November 14, 2025, at MEPL, Ranjangaon, Pune, Maharashtra, in the presence of the inspection team.
A major success for the NCB's mission,
the seizure of such a large quantity of drugs and their timely disposal reinforces the NCB's continued efforts to dismantle organized drug syndicates and crack down on drug traffickers. The Bureau's goal is a drug-free India by 2047, and to achieve this, major operations are being conducted across the country.
