A unique example of mutual brotherhood was seen in Dubai. Interfaith Iftar (inter-religious Roza Iftar) was organized at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara. Only vegetarian food was served in this Iftar and more than 275 people from many religions participated in it. The purpose of this event was to give the message of communal harmony and peace.

This Iftar was special because people of all religions participated in it together. Before entering the venue, all the people took off their shoes and covered their heads. Government officials, religious leaders, diplomats and other eminent personalities attended this event. Gurudwara President Surendra Singh Kandhari said that this event reflects the religious tolerance and cultural diversity of the UAE.

An example of Hindu-Muslim unity

Another special thing about this Iftar was that the people of the Muslim community abstained from non-veg in respect of their Hindus and ate only vegetarian food. This step gives a big message towards increasing Hindu-Muslim unity and mutual respect.

The President of the Gurudwara said that we want to spread the message of peace, love and humanity through this Iftar. This event is also an opportunity to express gratitude to the UAE rulers and pray for the Muslim community. The special significance of this event is also linked to the 'Community Year' declared this year, which aims to bring all communities together.

The spirit of service of the Gurudwara

This Gurudwara of Dubai is known for service and community work. Here, three-time langar (free food service) is provided, in which there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or nationality. This gurdwara plays an important role in promoting social service and community unity.

Prominent Emirati citizen and former UAE diplomat Mirza Al Sayegh also attended this program. He said that every time I attend this iftar, I realize that all religions talk about peace and harmony. This event also strengthens the relations between UAE and India.

Indian Consul General praised

Indian Consul General in Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan praised this iftar and said that this event organized by the gurdwara for so many years strengthens the spirit of tolerance, inclusiveness and humanity. Diversity and tolerance are given priority in both India and UAE.

American citizen also participated

American citizen Steven Erickson, who came from Abu Dhabi, also participated in this event. He said that he has been participating in this event since last year and is excited about it. He said that we participate in many community service programs with the Gurudwara. Wearing a turban on the head and removing shoes here is not an inconvenience, but an honor.

Message of humanity above religion

This unique event has once again proved that humanity and brotherhood are above religion. This Iftar not only promotes Hindu-Muslim unity, but also presents an important example of religious harmony and tolerance in the UAE.
