MS Dhoni has shared his thoughts about a controversial incident from IPL 2019 in which he barged into the field to argue with the umpires over a no-ball decision.

The incident took place during the final over of the match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 11, 2019. When CSK needed 8 runs from three balls, Ben Stokes bowled a delivery that was initially called a no-ball. The umpire later overturned the decision, following which Dhoni stormed onto the field to confront the officials.
This unexpected behaviour led to Dhoni being fined 50% of his match fee. In a recent event, when Mandira Bedi asked Dhoni if he has ever lost his temper, he replied: "Many times. It has happened; it happened in an IPL match. I just walked out on the field. So it was a big mistake."
"But also, there are instances where something like this happens because we play a sport where the stakes are very high; you have to win every game," he added.
Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings to five IPL championships, will continue to play for the team in IPL 2025.
The Chennai franchise has retained him for Rs 4 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
CSK's first match of IPL 2025 will be against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Dhoni, who holds the record for playing the most matches in IPL history, has currently scored 4669 runs in 234 IPL matches for CSK.
He needs 18 more runs to surpass Suresh Raina's record of 4687 runs and become CSK's highest run-scorer in IPL.
