"Mother’s Heartbreaking Plea After Pahalgam Attack: ‘Son, Surrender So Our Family Can Live in Peace’"

After the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, security forces have launched an intensified crackdown on terrorism across Jammu and Kashmir — demolishing properties linked to militants. Among the actions taken, security forces destroyed the house of Shahzada Bano in Bijbehara, after her son, Adil Hussain Thokar, was identified as a prime suspect in the attack.

In an emotional appeal, Shahzada Bano urged her son to surrender to authorities so that the family could live in peace. Speaking to the media, she said, "If he is involved, let the law take its course." The family claims they have had no contact with Adil since 2018. Meanwhile, Adil’s father and brother are in custody, and his mother was briefly detained.

According to officials, Adil is suspected of aiding Pakistani terrorists in orchestrating the brutal assault at Baisaran Valley. The Pahalgam attack, which occurred on April 22, left 26 people dead and has prompted sweeping actions across the region.

In the past 48 hours, several properties belonging to active terrorists have been demolished. Notably, security forces also destroyed the house of Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Adnan Shafi in Shopian district, intensifying the crackdown.

Wider Operation Targets Terrorist Networks

Reports also confirm that security forces blew up the residence of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Farooq Ahmed in Kupwara. Farooq is believed to be coordinating terror operations from Pakistan. Other militants whose properties have been targeted include:

  • Adil Hussain Thokar, Thokarpura, Anantnag
  • Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh, Muran, Pulwama
  • Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Tral
  • Shahid Ahmad Kuttay, Chotipora, Shopian
  • Zahid Ahmad Ghani, Matalhama, Kulgam
  • Aamir Ahmed, Shopian
  • Jameel Ahmed Sher, Bandipora
  • Aamir Nazir, Bandipora

Tactics varied by location, with Adil Hussain Thokar’s house destroyed using an IED and Asif Sheikh’s home brought down with a bulldozer.

Global Reactions and Political Questions

The Pahalgam attack has sparked international concern. The U.S. urged India and Pakistan to seek a "responsible solution," while China called for an impartial investigation. Domestically, political criticism mounted, with Shiv Sena's mouthpiece Saamana questioning the Modi government’s handling of border intrusions.

Meanwhile, fresh revelations indicate that the attackers were stopped and searched multiple times — even engaging in a shootout — but still managed to execute the deadly assault.

The government recently released a list naming 14 Kashmiri terrorists allegedly working under Pakistani command, indicating an intensified effort to dismantle cross-border terror networks.
