Is Mohammad Amir coming in the IPL 2027 auction?

Former Pakistan cricketer and now British citizen Mohammad Amir has dismissed reports of him entering the IPL 2027 mini-auction. He recently registered his name as a British citizen in the Afghanistan Premier League (AFL) draft. Rumors then began circulating that Amir might be considered for a bid in the IPL 2027 mini-auction. However, he has since put an end to the rumors, calling them false.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, when Mohammad Amir was asked about registering for the IPL 2027 auction, Amir replied, "No, I haven't registered." He also posted on social media, writing, "I want to make it clear that the rumors surrounding the IPL are not true."

It's worth noting that Pakistani players haven't played in the Indian Premier League since its inaugural season in 2008. Azhar Mahmood, a British citizen, played in the IPL in 2012, 2013, and 2015. Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the IPL, let alone register for the auction.

Mohammad Amir played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for Pakistan in international cricket. He took 271 wickets in his 159-match international career. He retired from international cricket for the second time in December 2014. He has since remained active in franchise cricket.

Retention deadline has changed.

The IPL 2027 mini auction will be held in Goa on December 16th. The BCCI had previously set November 15th as the deadline for releasing the retention list, but the date has now been changed to November 17th. The BCCI also clarified that players who still wish to register for the auction can do so until November 23rd.
