The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has become significantly more affordable due to GST 2.0. With 5-star safety and a host of new features, this sedan competes with cars like the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor.

India's best-selling sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, has become more affordable. Following the implementation of GST 2.0, the Dzire will now be charged only 18% GST, instead of 28% GST and 1% cess. This tax reduction will save customers up to ₹87,000. The new prices are effective September 22, 2025. This has once again made the Dzire a strong contender in the subcompact sedan segment. Let's explore its features and rivals.
Design and Exterior
- The Maruti Dzire's exterior has been given a premium touch. It features a larger front grille, sleek LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, and new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Its design makes it more modern and stylish, setting it apart from other cars in the segment.
Features and Comfort
- The Dzire also excels in terms of features. It offers premium features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, and cruise control. Notably, it is India's first subcompact sedan to feature a single-pane sunroof. This feature makes it more advanced than the Tata Tigor and Honda Amaze.
5-star safety rating
- The Maruti Dzire offers customers confidence when it comes to safety. It has received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. It includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and other safety features, making it one of the safest cars in its segment.
Mileage and Powertrain
- The Maruti Dzire is renowned for its excellent fuel efficiency. The manual version offers a mileage of 24.79 kmpl, while the automatic version delivers up to 25.71 kmpl. The CNG version offers a mileage of over 30 km/kg. The car is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 81.58 bhp and 111.7 Nm of torque. A CNG variant is also available, making it even more economical.
Who is the competition?
- The Maruti Dzire competes directly with cars like the Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor. The Tata Tigor is priced between ₹6 lakh and ₹9.9 lakh and is available in both petrol and CNG engine options. It delivers a mileage of 19.6 kmpl and has a 4-star safety rating. Tata Motors' Tigor is now cheaper by ₹75,000. Discounts of up to ₹80,000 are available on the purchase of the Tata Tigor. The price of the Tata Altroz has also been reduced by ₹1.10 lakh.
- The Honda Amaze is also a good option in terms of design, comfort, and mileage, but the Dzire's 30 km CNG mileage and 5-star safety make it stand out. The Honda Amaze is considered a great car in the sedan segment and is also preferred as a family car. It is powered by a 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol engine, which is available in both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. Its performance and mileage are both good. The ex-showroom price of this car previously ranged from ₹8.14 lakh to ₹11.24 lakh, but due to the changes in GST, its prices will now be further reduced.
- It's worth noting that the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has become cheaper by up to ₹87,000 after GST 2.0, making it an even more attractive option for Indian customers. With stunning design, premium features, 5-star safety, and a 30 km mileage, this car competes with cars like the Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor in its segment.
