Holy Bath:  Taking a holy dip in holy rivers like Ganga, Yamuna or any nearby water body is considered essential. It is believed that bathing on Magh Purnima washes away past sins and purifies the soul.

Fasting: Devotees observe a day-long fast during the fast. This practice reflects their devotion and commitment towards self-discipline and spiritual growth.

Charity:  Giving food, clothes and other essentials to the needy is a major ritual on Magh Purnima. Donating sesame seeds, rice and ghee to Brahmins and the poor is considered highly meritorious.

Special Prayers:  Performing pujas and havans in temples or homes are integral parts of this day. Many chant Vedic mantras and perform rituals dedicated to Lord Vishnu, seeking his blessings for prosperity and peace.

Annadanam (food donation):  Organising free meals for the underprivileged is a common practice. Distributing food, especially sweet dishes made of jaggery and sesame seeds, is believed to bring immense blessings.
