LPG Cylinder price from April 1st: The government has taken a strong and clear stance on rumors of a nationwide lockdown due to the Iran-Israel-US conflict. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri asserted that speculation about a nationwide lockdown is completely baseless. He emphasized that the government is not considering any such proposal and that there is no need for the public to panic.
India is fully prepared.
The government has also stated that despite the current global situation, there is no shortage of fuel or essential goods in the country. According to the ministry, India has sufficient oil and gas reserves, and supplies have already been secured for the next 60 days. Furthermore, India now imports crude oil from more than 41 countries, significantly mitigating the impact of any blockage in the Strait of Hormuz. However, despite this assurance from the government, panic buying has led to long queues at gas agencies.
Oil companies have also increased their preparations
Meanwhile, oil companies have also stepped up their preparations. Petrol pump owners are now receiving more credit than before to ensure there is no shortage of petrol and diesel. The government maintains that India is also an exporter of petroleum products, so there is no need for a "national energy emergency" at this time. The biggest question now is: will LPG cylinder prices increase from April 1st, or will there be some relief?
Given the current situation, there's little hope for relief. Crude oil and gas prices remain high due to the Iran-Israel war. Fuel prices have already risen in many countries around the world, so it wouldn't be surprising if LPG consumers face a setback on April 1, 2026.
Possibility of price changes
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) review gas prices on the first of every month. Crude oil and gas prices remain high amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the global oil crisis. Consequently, a price increase is expected from April 1st.
In March 2026, domestic cylinder prices saw a ₹60 increase. They now cost around ₹853. Meanwhile, commercial cylinder prices reached ₹1768.50 in Delhi in March. Whether prices will ease next month or increase will depend on international energy market conditions. Along with LPG, CNG and PNG prices are also expected to change from April 1st.
