'Smoke Paan' is quite in trend these days. Many videos related to this often go viral on social media. However, news related to this has raised many questions. According to media reports, the health of a 12-year-old girl from Bengaluru deteriorated due to smoking and drinking. The girl complained of severe stomach pain after allegedly consuming smoked paan, after which she was taken to the doctor. During the investigation, doctors found that the girl had a hole in her stomach and she was advised to undergo surgery immediately.

According to reports, the girl's stomach was examined through intraoperative OGDoscopy in the hospital. It was found that due to consuming liquid nitrogen plan, there was an infection in the lower part of the stomach which was removed through an operation.

After this matter came to light, questions have arisen about whether one should not smoke paan or eat paan.
Such cases have come to light earlier also

This is not the first case of health side effects from things containing liquid nitrogen. Earlier in 2017, a similar case had come to light in Gurugram, when a person drank a cocktail containing liquid nitrogen, after which his health deteriorated significantly.

Dr. Vijay, head of the team of doctors who performed the surgery in this recent incident caused by smoking, said that people need to be careful about liquid nitrogen. It should be used judiciously.

Doctors cautioned
Doctors said that liquid nitrogen is being used to make many food items attractive, however a little carelessness can be problematic for you. Inhaling the vapors released from it can cause difficulty in breathing and the dangerous nature of liquid nitrogen can also cause tissue damage in the body.

Doctors requested the Karnataka government to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents. It is noteworthy that the Tamil Nadu government has already banned the use of liquid nitrogen in food items.

Liquid nitrogen is banned in many places
In a report, the Karnataka Health Commissioner said, as per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, liquid nitrogen should not be used in food preparation. However, in many cases, these rules are being disregarded, which can have adverse effects on health. Action will be taken against those who violate these rules.

Even in America, liquid nitrogen is banned. According to CNN, the US Food and Drug Administration previously issued a safety warning about the potential dangers of consuming food made with liquid nitrogen. Mixing it in ice cream, paan cocktail, etc. can cause damage to internal organs.
