The liver is one of the most important organs of our body. The liver plays an important role in processing blood, its breakdown, and the absorption of nutrients. It is generally believed that the function of the liver is only for digestion, but in reality, it has many other important roles. Reports show that with time the cases of many types of liver-related diseases are increasing rapidly. Not only this, young people are also becoming its victims.

If we look at the statistics, we find that more than two million (20 lakh) people die every year due to liver diseases. Liver problems are responsible for one in every 25 deaths worldwide. World Liver Day is celebrated every year on 19 April to make people aware of the increasing number of liver diseases and to educate them about the prevention of liver diseases.

Is your liver healthy, is there any problem with it? Let us know how it can be identified.

How to know if your liver is healthy?
Generally, if the color of your urine is light and bowel movements are also regular, it is considered a sign that your liver is functioning properly. A healthy liver produces glycogen, which provides energy to the body. In such a situation, when the liver remains healthy, you feel energetic.

Doctors say making sure your liver remains healthy should be everyone's top priority. The only way to know for sure how healthy your liver is is to have a blood test. Although some signs indicate that the liver is not healthy, such symptoms should be constantly paid attention to.

Symptoms of liver problems
Health experts say that it is not necessary to always have symptoms of liver diseases. However, as the problem progresses, you may experience a variety of health problems. People with liver disease may often experience abdominal pain and swelling. Apart from this, since the liver cleans the blood, due to liver problems, impurities in the blood start increasing, which can cause swelling in the feet and ankles and itching in the skin. Some people may also have the problem of dark-colored urine and constant fatigue.

Frequent jaundice is a sign
People who have liver disease often suffer from jaundice. In case of liver not functioning properly, the amount of bilirubin in the blood starts increasing. Its excess causes yellowness in the eyes and skin due to which you start having symptoms of jaundice.

Jaundice is generally considered a symptom of liver disease. This happens because your damaged liver cells can't process bilirubin. Bilirubin moves into your blood.

Having sleep problems
Increasing sleep problems are considered a common sign of chronic liver disease (CLD). 60–80% of patients with CLD report sleep problems. Disturbance in sleep, insomnia, and frequent sleep disturbances at night are considered signs of liver disease. There can be many other reasons for sleep problems, however, if you have problems with digestion along with jaundice, then it can be considered an indicator of liver disease.
