Asthma patients in India
An estimated more than two lakh people die due to asthma every year in India. According to the Global Burden of Disease 2021 report, asthma patients are increasing rapidly in India. Respiratory disease experts say that if asthma is diagnosed in time in most patients, then its proper treatment can help prevent the symptoms from worsening.

What do experts say?
Dr. Sandeep Salvi, President of the Indian Chest Society, says that the main reason for the increasing cases of asthma in India is considered to be the lack of timely diagnosis. More than 90 percent of asthma patients in India do not use inhaled corticosteroids, which are considered essential to prevent the disease. Due to the lack of timely diagnosis or treatment of the disease in most people, there is a risk of this disease taking a serious form.
