Increasing technology has given people the opportunity to progress continuously and along with it, there have been many changes in the method of payment in India. We are saying this because UPI payment has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. However, the risk of becoming a victim of scams and fraud is also increasing.
People in India mainly use Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or any other UPI-enabled app. In such a situation, to avoid scams, you will have to keep some tips in mind, about which we are going to tell you.
Double-check payment details
Before making a payment to anyone, always double-check the receiver's information such as phone number, bank account, or UPI ID. If you enter any wrong details then there is a fear of losing your money.
Be careful about fishing
Always keep in mind that you do not share your UPI credentials, OTP (one-time password), or personal information with anyone. Often scammers attempt to steal your money by phishing through fraudulent SMS, email, or phone calls.
Take care of security
You can opt for methods like PIN, Pattern, Fingerprint or Face Unlock to keep your access to the UPI app secure. With its help, you can easily avoid scammers.
Use app lock and biometrics
To further strengthen security, you can take advantage of in-built security features like app lock and biometric authentication offered by UPI apps. Due to this, it will not be easy for anyone to access them.
keep app updated
No matter which app you use, always keep its latest version updated. Due to this, if there is any bug in the app, it can be fixed through new security updates.
Do not share OTP or UPI PIN
Be it your family members or your friends, do not share your OTP or UPI PIN with anyone. Legitimate UPI apps will never ask for this information and sharing it may compromise the security of your account.
Use secure network
We often use our devices on public Wi-Fi networks, but using it or making UPI payments over an unsecured connection can expose your sensitive information to hackers.
