Where is this unique village?
This village is situated in the Sholapur district about 200 km from Pune in Maharashtra named as Shetpal. People in this village are not afraid of snakes and allow snakes to live in their homes. The most surprising thing is that people do not allow any other snake but the poisonous snake cobra to live around them. There is no restriction on the movement of snakes in this village.
Snakes live as pets
Snakes roam freely in this village as pets and cobra snakes are worshipped here daily. Not only this, you will be surprised to know that more than 2,600 villagers are not harmed by snakes in any way, nor do the people here kill snakes out of fear.
According to media reports, so far not a single case of snake bite has come to light in this village. Here snakes go inside homes as well as schools and even children are not afraid of these snakes.
Make a place for the village even in the house
In this village, when people build a new house, they also make a small place in the house for snakes. This place is given the name of Devasthanam. It is believed that snakes come and sit at these places in the house.
Here snakes have become a part of people's life. However, visitors to this village who are apprehensive are advised to bring eggs or milk with them.
