There is always a need for hot water during the winter season. Now it is not possible to heat water with gas all the time or run a geyser for some reason. In such a situation, heating rods are used in many Indian homes. This is a cheap and fast way by which water can be heated instantly. But there is also a problem that these heating rods are not safe. Leave aside the use of children; even adults can get electrocuted by these heating rods. In such a situation, you have to understand what the right way to use it is.
While using immersion rods, the only thing that has to be kept in mind is that there should not be any shortage in the wire. You also have to keep in mind that there is no possibility of electrocution in any other way. Sometimes there is a possibility of short circuits due to immersion rods. In such a situation, you always have to keep these things in mind while using them.
Do not remove the water heater immediately after switching it off.
Most people who get electrocuted by a water heater do so because of a mistake. Most people think that if the switch is closed, it means there will be no current, but it is not so. The current continues in the water heater even for 10-15 seconds after closing the switch. Electricity spreads very fast through water and in such a situation you must maintain your safety. Even if you have switched off the water heater, you should still avoid touching the water or heater for at least 10-15 seconds.
Even by mistake, never put your hand in the bucket to measure the temperature of water while the heater is inside it. You have to put your hands in water only after removing the heater.
Never use a heater with half a bucket of water
The problem with immersion rods is that you cannot put them in a metal vessel due to the fear of electric current and they may melt the plastic bucket. In such a situation, you need to fill your bucket completely and only then use the rod. Along with this, it is also important to keep in mind that the immersion rod is not touching your bucket in any way.
Many times the handle of the rod breaks due to which it starts touching the bucket. In such a situation, you have to take care that the bucket does not start melting in any way. Immersion rods are very risky so you need to take some care.
Always take care of the electricity switch
Electrocution can occur very quickly through immersion rods. In such a situation, you should always keep in mind that it should not be accidentally connected to a switch which is loose or has any wire coming out. In such a situation, the risk of electric shock increases significantly.
Keep these things in mind before buying an immersion rod
- These rods are not auto-cut like geysers so you have to take care to switch them off manually.
- The problem of overheating is very common in these, so you should not keep your immersion rods running without any reason.
- Always buy branded rods.
- Never heat the rod before putting it in water. Always switch it on only after putting it in water.
- If the wire of the rod is cut for any reason, do not use it without replacing it.
