There are many such temples in the world which are not only mysterious but also unique. One of these is the Temple of the Tooth. Today we are going to tell you about this temple based on the information given by astrologer expert Dr Radhakant Vats.

  • The 'temple of teeth' we are talking about is present in Sri Lanka. The teeth of Lord Gautam Buddha are kept in this temple.

  • That's why it was named 'Temple of the Tooth'. There is a belief about the tooth kept in this temple that even today it is growing little by little.
  • It is believed that when Gautam Buddha died, his last rites were performed in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
  • But one of his followers pulled out his teeth before the funeral and gave them to King Brahmadatta.

  • King Brahmadatta worshipped Lord Buddha's teeth for many years and got those teeth installed in his palace.
  • Lord Buddha's teeth are considered miraculous. That's why many kings fought wars to get these teeth.
  • But in the end, a follower of Gautam Buddha sent him to Sri Lanka to save his teeth.
  • Then the king of Sri Lanka built a huge grand temple for the teeth of Gautama Buddha and installed it there.
  • From then till today, the teeth of Gautam Buddha are worshipped in that temple. This tooth is kept in a small box.

  • The darshan of the teeth is always open for the devotees visiting the temple but they are not allowed to take them out of the casket.
  • Even no one can touch those teeth. It is believed that suffering ends by seeing the teeth of Gautam Buddha.
  • Every Wednesday the sacred teeth of Lord Buddha are bathed with the water of the fragrant flower 'ManumuraMangalya'.
  • This holy water is then distributed among the devotees as Prasad.
