Surya Kund Mandir: Where worship in other temples is prohibited during the eclipse and Sutak period and all temples are closed. On the other hand, the doors of the ancient Surya Kund temple located in Yamuna Nagar remain open even during the solar eclipse. It is said that the person who enters this temple is not affected by the eclipse. The Surya Kund located in this temple is made in such a way that the sun's rays get absorbed in the Kund itself. There are only two such temples in the country, which remain open even during the solar eclipse. One of these is located in Konark, Odisha.
Who built this temple?
According to mythological beliefs, Suryavanshi King Mandhata suffered from leprosy 6 generations before Lord Shri Ram. At that time, on the advice of sages, he got a huge Rajasuya Yagya done at this place. At that time, Yamuna ji and Surya Bhagwan were invoked by King Mandhata by standing in this kund by constructing this kund here. After this Lord Shri Surya Narayan appeared and cured his leprosy. Since then, it is believed that bathing in the ancient Surya Kund located in this temple gives relief from skin diseases and skin-related diseases. According to another belief, Pandavas also had dialogue with Yaksha at this place during their exile in the Mahabharata period. At this place, Draupadi worshiped Lord Surya and obtained Akshaya Patra from him.
Interesting things about Suryakund
Local people say that the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj has also come here. An interesting thing about this temple is that the water of Surya Kund changes its color two to three times on Sundays. The water of this kund sometimes turns green, sometimes white, and sometimes blue or black. The water of this kund neither decreases nor dries up throughout the year.
How history is related to Lord Shri Krishna
It is also believed that the Shivling in the temple was established by Lord Shri Krishna and the Pandavas themselves and Lord Krishna and the Pandavas used to come to worship it regularly. It is also said that Lord Shri Krishna and Yamuna ji were married at this place in the form of Kalindi and Lord Surya Narayan ji himself had donated the daughter in this marriage. Because Lord Suryanarayan told Lord Rama in Treta Yuga to marry his daughter, then Lord Rama told him that in Dwapar Yuga when he would appear as Lord Krishna. Then he will marry their daughter. If the sun is weak in a person's horoscope or he is unable to get a child, then by coming here and worshiping Lord Surya, he gets the happiness of a child.
