Cancer has been a serious health risk globally, with millions of people dying each year from all types of cancer. Media reports show that anyone can be at risk of cancer, and there is a need to make continuous efforts to prevent it. Health experts say that with the development of technology and modernity in the medical field, the treatment of cancer has become easier compared to the last few years, but it still remains a big threat to the common people. Lack of timely diagnosis is considered to be one of the reasons for the increasing cases of death due to cancer.

Meanwhile, in a recent study, a team of researchers has found Artificial Intelligence (AI) to be effective in the diagnosis of cancer. In a report of a study published in The Lancet Regional Health, scientists said that it can be easier to detect gall bladder cancer through AI, just like an experienced radiologist, it can detect cancer in time.

Health experts consider this combination of techniques to be very effective in the medical field.

Work towards developing AI
A team from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), in New Delhi are working towards creating a deep learning model that can detect gall bladder cancer through abdominal ultrasound.

It is important to know here that Deep Learning is a method in AI that teaches computers to process data in the same way as the human brain does. Scientists hope that with its help this cancer, which is increasing rapidly in many countries of the world, can be diagnosed in time.

Test results are quite optimistic
The team of scientists trained this deep-learning method on a dataset of 233 patients and tested it on 273 patients. The ultrasound reports of the test were also reviewed by two radiologists. According to the study, the effectiveness of the DL model in the test set was found to be 92.3 percent. Researchers found that like radiologists, AI can also help in diagnosing cancer easily.

It may be beneficial in promoting timely diagnosis of cancer, and the team of scientists has expressed hope about this technology.

Will help in the timely diagnosis of cancer
Health experts say gallbladder cancer is a highly fatal disease, due to which lakhs of people die every year. Researchers say that early diagnosis of the disease is challenging in most cases because gallstone lesions can be difficult to detect easily. Researchers have found that through this new technology in the medical field, it will be easier to detect cancer and it will also help reduce the pressure at the global level.
