  • The Vedic calendar is calculated based on solar month and lunar month.
  • The lunar month is of 354 days and the solar month is of 365 days.
  • There is a difference of about 11 days between the lunar month and the solar month.
  • This difference becomes 33 days every third year.
  • This difference is called Adhik Maas.
  • This time Sawan is in Adhik month only which is considered very rare.
  • This is the reason that Sawan is going to be for two months this year.

How to worship Sawan 2023?

  • Wake up early in the morning on Sawan Monday and retire after taking a bath etc.
  • After this wear clean clothes and remember Lord Shiva.
  • Take a pledge of Sawan SomvarVrat by taking water in your right hand.
  • After this, fill a glass with Ganges water and go to the Shiva temple.
  • Abhishek Lord Shiva with Gangajal. Chant ' Om NamahShivay Mantra '.
  • Offer Akshat, white flowers, white sandalwood, cannabis, dhatura to Bholenath.
  • Offer cow's milk, dhoop, panchamrit, supari, belpatra half also on Shivling.
  • Chant Om or sing praises of Shiva while offering the material.
  • Offer Rudraksh in front of Lord Shiva and chant Mrityunjaya Mantra.

  • Offer ghee and sugar as prasad to Lord Shiva.
