Recording calls of any person without the knowledge of the caller or the receiver is a violation of the right to privacy. It also comes under the category of crime in India. Call recording can be misused against you, which can affect your personal and/or professional life. It is very difficult to trust people in today's world. Someone you might consider a friend or trusted ally may turn out to be a backstabster. Some of the information you share may be leaked to others, which may affect your relationships, career, etc. For these reasons, it is important to know whether your calls are being recorded or not. Here are some ways to know whether someone is recording your calls or not.

Google's "call being recorded" message
Google has taken measures to prevent people from recording calls without permission. In the Google dialer and even the dialers provided by the respective phone manufacturers, a voice message is played saying - "This call is being recorded". This happens when someone on the other end presses the call record button.

If you also hear this message, you can know that the call is being recorded. This voice message is about one second long, so it is possible that you may not notice it. So always be cautious, especially when you don't trust the person on the other end.

Outdated third-party apps
Google released a new policy for recording calls in mid-2022. This means that previously installed call recording apps can still record your calls without the alert message. This is why Google's new policy may not eliminate the possibility of someone on the other end recording your calls. In such a situation, you should pay attention to every reaction.

Heed the beep
You should pay attention to the sound of the beep as soon as you receive the phone. If you hear a beep after the phone is connected, your phone is being recorded. On the other hand, if you are hearing some other sound other than the beep, then it also means that your call is being recorded.

The limited response may be an alarm bell
When someone on the other end is recording your call, they will likely try to speak as little as possible. The other person may ask you to provide details, but they may remain silent for much of the time. If someone is strangely doing this then it could be that your call is being recorded.
