According to religious texts, women in a house where there are no sons can perform Shraddha and Pind Daan. There is a clear mention of this in Garuda Purana also. According to Garuda Purana, if a person does not have a son, then in such a situation the daughters perform Shraddha and Pind Daan for their ancestors.

It is believed that if girls perform Shraddha and Pind Daan with devotion to their ancestors, then the ancestors accept it and bless the girl. Apart from the girl, the daughter-in-law or wife can also perform Shraddha and Pind Daan.
Mother Sita had performed Pind Daan of King Dashrath
According to beliefs, Mother Sita had performed the Pind Daan of King Dasharatha. It is mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana that during the exile, Lord Shri Ram, Lakshman and Mother Sita had arrived in Gaya at the time of Pitru Paksha. During that time Lord Ram and Lakshman had gone to collect material for Shraddha and they were getting late in bringing the material. Meanwhile, Mother Sita saw King Dasharatha. King Dashrath had requested Pind Daan from Mother Sita.
After this, taking the Banyan tree, Ketaki flower and Falgu river as witnesses, Mother Sita created a ball of sand and through it offered Pind Daan to King Dasharatha. King Dashrath was pleased with this Pind Daan done by Mother Sita and blessed her.
Women should keep these things in mind while performing Pind Daan
While performing Shraddha, women should wear white and yellow colored clothes.
According to religious belief, only married women should perform Shraddha.
While offering tarpan, women should keep in mind that they cannot offer tarpan by adding kush, water and black sesame seeds.
If you do not remember the date of Shraddha, then perform Shraddha for old men and women on Navami and for children on Panchami.
