It is said that the first happiness is a healthy body. That is if the person is healthy. If he does not have any kind of physical or mental problem, then such a person is very happy. Generally, we all adopt many methods to keep ourselves healthy, but since ancient times, the remedy which people have been giving is the most important to our Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama. Pranayama is considered good for overall health. Its regular practice removes many of your health problems. Along with this, it also protects against many diseases.

However, even today people believe some misconceptions related to Pranayama to be true. In such a situation, they either do not do Pranayam at all or due to these misconceptions, they practice it in the wrong way. So, today in this article, Yoga expert and President of Women's Health Research Foundation, Dr Neha VashishtKarki is telling you about some such myths related to Pranayama-

Myth 1- Pranayama is just a breathing exercise

Truth- While practising any Pranayama, more focus is on the breaths. That's why most people think that it is just a type of breathing exercise. While in fact, it is not so. It is directly related to our hormones. When we hold our breath during Pranayama, during that time happy hormones are released in the body. These hormones fix the sympathetic mechanism of our body, which relieves stress.

Myth 2- One pranayam is enough for every disease

Truth- There is no doubt in the fact that by practising Pranayama many of your health problems get cured automatically. But if you think that for every disease you will get all the benefits by doing only one Pranayam, then it is not so.

Every Pranayama works differently on the body and therefore Pranayama should be done keeping in mind your health problem. For example, if someone has problems related to hormones, then Anulom-Vilom Pranayama is very good for him. But if you have a thyroid problem, then Ujjayi Pranayama will be more effective.

Myth 3- Sitting in the wrong posture leads to side effects of Pranayama

Truth- Along with breathing while doing pranayama, adequate attention is also paid to your sitting posture and hand posture. Generally, people think that if they make the wrong posture while doing Pranayama, then Pranayama can harm their bodies. However, in reality, this never happens. Pranayama never gives you any side effects. That's why never make the mistake of accepting this misconception as truth.

Myth 4- Pranayama should be done only in the morning

Truth- This is a very common myth related to Pranayama. Many people feel that to get the full benefit of Pranayama, it should be done in the morning only. If this pranayama is practised in the evening, then it does not give any benefit.

You can practice Pranayama at any time. You just have to keep in mind that you practice Pranayama only after three hours of eating food. Apart from this, also keep in mind that you try to avoid some aggressive pranayama like Kapalbhati or Bhastrika Pranayama etc. in the evening.

So now you also remove these myths related to Pranayama from your mind and keep yourself healthy through its regular practice.
