Higher risk of heart attack-stroke
The study, published in JAMA Cardiology, showed that people who work long hours in offices are at a higher risk of cardiovascular problems, including heart attack and stroke. According to the study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, the risk of heart attack or stroke was found to be 20 percent higher in people who worked more than eight hours a day sitting at the same place. Sitting for long periods increases the risk of heart failure by almost 50 percent.

What did the study find?
The 11-year study examined the records of more than 1.05 lakh people from 21 countries. By the time the study ended, more than 6,200 deaths had been recorded. In this, 2,300 cases of heart attack, 3,000 cases of stroke, and 700 other cases were registered. Researchers reported that blood circulation is being disrupted due to sitting for a long time, and due to reduced physical activity, extra pressure is being seen in the heart.

What do health experts say?
According to the study, people who exercise regularly are 17 percent less likely to develop heart-related diseases. In such a situation, even if you do a long sitting job, but there is a habit of daily exercise, getting up for a short walk during work, diet is healthy, and do not smoke, then its side effects can be reduced to a great extent.

Sitting for long periods is directly related to physical inactivity, which can put us at risk of many serious side effects on our health.
