In Hinduism, some special rules have been made regarding worship, which is considered very important to follow. It is a belief that if any mistake is made during the worship of any God, then the full result of the worship is not achieved.

For this reason, people take special care in worship that the rules must be followed. Lord Shiva is one such god. Lord Shiva is worshipped as the God of Gods and by his grace; the doors of the fulfilment of desires are opened.

Don't know how many ways we all try to please Lord Shiva. Sometimes we apply sandalwood paste on the Shivling and sometimes we offer water. Of all these measures, offering water to Lord Shiva is considered the best.

Do not offer water in the wrong direction

You should never stand in the wrong direction while offering water to the Shivling. Water should not be offered to Shivling by facing south and east. Always offer water to the Shivling facing north. The north direction is considered to be the left side of Lord Shiva where Mother Parvati resides. By offering water facing this direction, one gets the blessings of both Shiva and Parvati.

Do not offer water while standing

Whenever you offer water to Shivling, always keep in mind that you should not offer water while standing. If you offer water while standing, it does not yield results offering water to Shivling while sitting is considered most auspicious.

Do not offer water from this vessel

If you offer water on Shivling with steel or iron vessel, then it is not considered auspicious. Never offer water to Shivling from such utensils in which any such metal has been used. It is always considered auspicious to offer water on the Shivling from a copper vessel.

Along with this, you have to keep in mind that when you offer water, the water stream should not break and water should be offered simultaneously. But if you are offering milk instead of water, then don't use a copper vessel.

Don't use the conch to offer water

Don't offer water on Shivling with a conch shell. The use of conch is prohibited in Shiva worship because according to a legend, Shiva once killed the demon Shankhchud and it is believed that the conch is made of the bones of that demon.

Do not offer water in the evening

If you offer water on Shivling then you should also take special care of time. If you offer water from 5 am to 11 am, it will be especially fruitful. Never offer water to Shivling in the evening. By doing this one does not get the fruit of Shiva worship.

Don't offer water like this

If you are doing the Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, then keep in mind that does not mix any other material in the water. It is a belief that mixing anything in water reduces the purity of water, due to which the full fruit of Pooka is not available.
